UiTM Perlis drop by for a visit.

Visited by lecturers and students from UiTM Perlis.

Very enthusiastic group, and it's always a pleasure to give some knowledge to those who are keen in setting up their own aquaponics system.

Hopefully with this exposure, they are able to expand their current method of aquaponics setup to include potted gutterbed flood & drain style.

MH 370

Latest media statement, confirming Flapperon is from MH 370, as Caregiver for the next of kin on the ill fated flight and as an SME on the airplane type I'm relief to hear this latest development.

I can understand that some of the NOKs are at the stage of denials, I am looking forward with this confirmation that I could normalize my life to what it was before the incident. This has been a difficult and painful period in my Aviation Career.

Rambutan Tree

This is no way Aquaponics, but just to record that I had planted a Rambutan Tree in place of the Council planted tree that got blown down during a thunderstorm recently.
Bought it from nearby nursery costing me RM 60.00, that about US 20.00 and hope it is a good variety of Rambutan.

KLIA Solar Farm

Happen to pass by this area at the back road of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) which has rows upon rows of solar panels.
These panels are for the airport lightings, I believe it is for the taxiways and guidance lights which requires 24 hrs light up.
Anyway it doesn't matter as long as they are saving energy it must be good.
Wish I could have something like it, even at a home scale to power up my aquaponics.

Its Technology At Its Best - My 31st Post on 31st August 2014 - Merdeka

I have been a blogger since 2006, the Aquaponics blog was up in 2009 after I had learn some of its basic and confident that it will be something good. My earlier photos and videos was done on a Canon IXUS V3 which was cutting edge technology at its time and bloody expensive for a 3.2 mega pixel camera that struggle to do VGA videos. Its price is equivalent to a Sony Alpha 6000 at present day rate.
My first aquaponics video was done on a Nokia E71 smart phone, its long gone retired to Tech heaven after serving very well as phones but not so much as a video recorder. Video below was done with this phone, it was my attempt to make known my siphon design to those that is interested in trying it out.

Time passed us by and more cameras, phones etc then most of my videos and photos were made on my trusty Panasonic Lumix LX5. It is capable of 720p video and good still image resolution. This camera give me the confident to get a good shot most of the time, but to get those photos on line is a hassle to do.
It is a good camera, but then Lumix LX7 were out however feature wise it is not worth an upgrade. Action cam GoPro Hero 3 Black is use mostly for my motoring shots, as a video cam it is difficult to use since it does not have a view finder or screen of any sort.

Above video was done with the Lumix LX5, it is a good camera and can do good video with enough time on each take. Along side this camera I did use a Nikon D5000 DSLR, but it is large and not practical to do video since it lack auto focus.

Lumix LX5 was my main camera to do most video and still until smart phones like the Samsung Note start to emerge in the market. I find that I am using more and more of the phone for my still shot and reserve only video to the LX5.

However things starting to head totally towards smart phones with introduction of Samsung Galaxy S5,  I find that not only it do satisfactory photos for blog post but it will do great video too. It has video auto focus and all the bang and whistle in a small package, photo compression, watermark and even a blogging apps that put icing on the cake.
I am not a fan of selfie but a phone holder on a tripod make this phone a good video capture device sufficient for my blogging needs. It small size and powerful features make it ideal for blog on the go and not to mentioned replying to email and facebook messenger send to me.

Video above was shot using the Galaxy S5 with audio from a Sony IC Recorder doing a voice over with Corel Video Studio Pro X6 software.
Technology has change so much over the last few years, it is just like yesterday that I still can recall my first computer the ZX81 by Sinclair with a whooping 256k of memory trying to programmed for a few hours making dot to cross the TV screen.

All this technological advancement is good, and I'll try to use it to make better blog and give easier to understand video and blog post.

Cheers

Test Posting - Blogging On The Go

I am testing this android apps blogaway. Previous apps is not satisfactory even from google or blogspot itself.
It is a small apps that can do basic blogging on the go. The important features that I need are ability to easily edit, arrange photos, integration with photo resizer and able to view how the blog post going to be like.
No particular reason why I post these few photos, all are randomly selected to try out.
I will try this apps, and if it's good I am going to purchase the full version.

Stepping Up Dengue Fight ?

Why don't the MBSA City Council be proactive in encouraging residents to take up fish keeping, it is proven that if we have fish ponds, tank etc the number of mosquito population in the vicinity will reduce.
Aquaponics is one of the ways, encourage people to do it and we will rid of mosquito problem more effectively.

My previous short write up on it refer these links below;

It's Busy In May

Have to put my Aquaponics task on hold for a while.. May is a busy month for me.. just back earlier today from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in Borneo and tomorrow afternoon I'm off to Singapore for a week.
Above street of Kota Kinabalu, far end is the Hyatt Regency Kota Kinabalu.. nice hotel.
Heaven for fresh seafood.
Hope things will be slowing down a bit after this Singapore trip and prior to 14 July, which I should be heading to Victoria, Canada for 2 weeks.
Oh.. well.. only have time to reply comments, email and youtube.

Malaysian Parliment Dissolved Today

Our Parliment Dissolve today pave way for 13th General Election which should come latest within 60 days.
(Reuters) - Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said he will dissolve parliament on Wednesday, paving the way for a long-anticipated general election within weeks that could be the closest his ruling coalition has faced in its 56-year rule.
"The king has accepted my request to dissolve parliament effective April 3," Najib said in a live television address from the administrative capital Putrajaya.

Najib's National Front coalition lost its two-thirds parliamentary majority for the first time in 2008 elections and faces a confident three-party opposition alliance led by former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim.
