Renovation on my place makes it necessary to give away the home kit , here where its at and the person caring for it still need more experience hence I recommend yam as it is one of the easiest to grow.
These are Tilapia from my concrete tank, I am saving it for my future Aquaponics setup.
I can't wait to start, its been so long without.
Great to hear from you. I will be starting my own very soon just getting all the equipment together.

Fishawary, currently I am not able to assist due to renovation work on my house takes most of my time and not possible for me to make any. Once all clear I will redesign the entire setup and make it smaller and more compact. This would be more suitable for education purpose.
DeleteFishawy you can try the single barrel for educational purpose : http://affnan-aquaponics.blogspot.com/2010/05/barrel-ponics-affnans-siphon.html
DeleteHi Affnan,
ReplyDeleteThanks to you, I've created my own small aquaponics set, based on your mini siphon design. Been testing the siphon for 3 days nonstop now (since Sunday 1st July), and it has never failed so far. I'm using clay balls or hydroton for my growbed.
I really want to rear red tilapia, but after visiting 3 aquarium shops in USJ (where I live), none are selling any. Do you mind telling me where I can buy the red tilapia fry?
Many thanks again.
You can try Sungai Buluh, Aquarium Kejora, International Aquatic in Subang Airport. Those that I hv I got it from Janda baik area from friends.
DeleteThanks. But I've already found an aquarium shop in Kampung Seri Puchong (near LDP's Puchong Barat Toll Plaza) that sells tilapia fry, for RM1.00 for 10, or 10sen each.
DeleteBought 40 for my small tank. Hope I can rear them well.
I am in kl now, can just tell me when I go to hardware store what are the fitting and pieces of PVC joints I need to ask for because I need to ship them back to Saudi as I am going back there soon. Do you know any one selling composting worms here in kl? I know this is irrelevant to your site but I thought to ask you as I kept on calling a lot people with less of success and I am leaving soon.
ReplyDeleteApologise for the late reply, its quite difficult to verbally list those fittings. The guys in hardware store may understand differently. For siphon you need. 25mm pvc tube 3 ft will do 1 siphon. 50 or 40 mm to 25mm adapter, 80mm tube with endcap for bell. 110mm sewage tube (white) for strainer. One 25 mm tank fitting, two 25mm elbow. That is about it.
DeleteThanks a lot for your reply. By the way I managed to get composting worms finally but can't bring them all with me. Only handfull of them. I asked many people here to take but no interest. If you want them I can pass them to you other wise I will release them to the wild. Please let me as I am leaving KL to Jeddah on the 22nd.
